Cultural mediation and the dissemination of knowledge in the digital age. Institutional information, editorial and informational practices, and socio-technological systems
The purpose of this project is two-fold: analysis of the articulation dynamics between cultural and scientific mediation, on the one hand, and innovative digital technologies on the other. This project involves two interactional lines of research:
The first line treats “Topicality, politics, and practices of publicizing knowledge by cultural and scholarly institutions in the digital age.” We study these institutions’ politics of communication and the editorial practices that materialized during the construction of a “digital informational ecosystem” and the transfers/mutations of forms of cultural and scholarly mediation. The analyses draw from both professional trade publications and fieldwork.
The second line, “Digital humanities and transformations in the production and dissemination of scholarly and cultural knowledge,” focuses on the conception of the New Statistical Tool (NOS) destined to characterize the actions of a dozen heritage institutions on social networks. Analyses of politics and innovative editorial practices, as well as software developments, will be shared within the cluster.
